When Reb Eliyahu Dessler became the Mashgiach of Ponevitz yeshiva, some of the students felt that he was too sweet and not harsh enough on them. They went to the Chazzon Ish to voice their concern, hoping that he would side with them and fix the “problem”. His response is a classic. “The kinyan (acquisition method) of Meshichah (to draw softly) is stronger than Chazaka (with force)!
This is the perspective for success in life. Sometimes we think that being pushy and demanding will grant us our way. However, the best way to draw hearts together is through being pleasant and nice.
